- You want your bonsai tree to look it's best and enable you to appreciate the tree at it's best for years.
- Bonsai trees can be expensive and to lose your tree and perhaps already many months or years of attention would be such a waste.
- Even with the best of attention your Bonsai tree may not be at it's best for a long time - if you have a flowering
bonsai tree then again - it would be such a waste not to see it flower!
Watering your bonsai tree.
Bonsai trees need to be watered regularly - the trees are at their best when they are not too dry and not too wet. They grow at their best when they are 'nicely moist'. To water a bonsai tree you should ideally provide a little water to moisten the soil - this will enable make the soil more absorbent. Once the tree is moist then supply loads of water and allow the tree to drain. Without the first moistening process the second application of water may 'run through' and not be absorbed adequately.Feeding you bonsai tree.
Once watered a good application of fertiliser once in a while is of great help to the growth and health of your tree.
Use a balanced fertiliser to feed your bonsai tree. N-P-K (nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium) are the major
components of a suitable fertiliser and normally applied at 20-20-20 (are the percentage, by weight), at 25% strength, every other week. Always remember however that a fertiliser is not a cure for an ailing bonsai tree but a additive
to assist or help you care for your bonsai tree.
